Become Inspired by The Saints Through Unforgettable Audio Dramas in Just Hours!
[Friend],
It is no secret that we are deluged by all kinds of media in the modern world. The problem is, most of the media being pushed for and praised constantly is idle entertainment at best and hostile to our faith and morality at worst. We are surrounded by immoral and amoral messages. We are constantly given stories that do not touch our souls, stories that are untrue to life. Some of the media can hardly even be called beautiful. The media we're surrounded by won't help us grow in holiness.
But it doesn't mean that we should just abandon the media entirely. St. Pope John Paul II calls us to a new evangelization through our modern forms of media. Following his exhortation, the Augustine Institute was formed to bring back the truth and the gospel back into the world.
In addition to putting together lectures and lessons, we are evangelizing through other projects.
We are telling stories through film, entertainment and art. One of these projects that we put together is the Augustine Institute Radio Theatre.
The Augustine Institute Radio Theatre shares inspiring stories as audio dramas that you can listen to, featuring award winning actors. Most of the stories we produce are based on the amazing lives of saints. All of our exciting stories are for exploring and building our faith. We tell each of our stories in a handful of 20-30 minute episodes.
You can walk alongside Brother Francis: The Barefoot Saint of Assisi. Our first drama tells the gripping story of Saint Francis, as he goes from Assisi's fun-loving "king of feasts" to a soldier and a prisoner of war. Released from prison, he started to seek God with all his heart. Francis, through abandoning everything had for the love of God, would end up founding a long standing religious order.
You can witness The Trials of Saint Patrick-- with an old Bishop Patrick narrating his life story, expanded with the live events witnessed by his younger self. Carried off into slavery in Ireland, he escapes and returns home, only to become a bishop and evangelize the land of his captivity. Patrick has to learn how to evangelize to a pagan nation with a hostile ruling force in the form of the druids.
Perhaps you would like to listen to An Ode to Saint Cecilia. Here is the story of a modest young lady from Rome with a love for beauty, truth, and the arts. Her moving story is interwoven with numerous artists from across time who looked to her as a patron saint and a muse.
Outside of the lives of saints, you can discover The Legends of Robin Hood. We wanted to share our new take on a beloved and well known story. It is little known that the oldest legends of Robin Hood show him as a faithful catholic. In our own Legends, Robin Hood himself has to find out how to fight for justice when he is under unjust law. He must find the line between justice and vengeance.
Or you can experience The Victory of Joan of Arc. Follow the journey of a brave, young peasant girl traveling through war in 15th Century France. Sent on a mission by God, she's determined to bring the true heir of the throne back and drive out the invading English.
When you listen to any of our dramas, you are listening to characters coming to life through an award winning cast. You can imagine every powerful event that happens with cinematic music and sound effects enriching the experience.
In the theater of your mind, you can take in stories full of virtue that we all desperately need. Stories of faith, hope and love. Stories of heroic sacrifice and miracles. The events in our unforgettable dramas are true to the real lives of the saints-- perfect if you are learning about them for the first time. Yet while being true to the saints, we also added some elements that might surprise and delight you if you know them well.
